04 / Why generate it
Affiliate sites live or die by SEO. WordPress + Astra + WooCommerce hits Core Web Vitals issues; comparison plugins slow pages further. Next.js static generation handles 1000+ product pages with sub-second load times.
Affiliate revenue scales with traffic, and traffic scales with how many comparison + review URLs you can rank. Programmatic comparison generation means you ship hundreds of comparison URLs without writing each.

For products in the same category, the dynamic route /[a]-vs-[b] pulls specs from both listings and renders a comparison table. With N products in a category, that's N×(N-1)/2 comparison URLs. All statically generated for SEO. The hard part is ensuring listings have rich specs, thin specs make thin comparisons.
Each affiliate link goes through /go/[product]/[network] which records the click and redirects. The recorded clicks let you see CTR per product. For attribution beyond clicks (i.e. conversions), most affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, ShareASale) provide reporting APIs you can pull from.
Established sites have authority advantage. To compete: (1) niche down, "best X for Y use case" beats "best X". (2) Real testing or unique data, photos you shot, benchmarks you ran. (3) Comparison pages that aggregate cleanly. Programmatic alone won't rank; programmatic + unique angle will.
For Amazon, use Product Advertising API (PA-API) to refresh prices and availability. For other retailers, scrape (respect their robots.txt and rate limits) or use price-comparison APIs (PriceAPI, RapidAPI). Cache aggressively, prices update hourly is fine for most categories.
